If I used those, I would never have regular reminders to keep my tetanus shots up to date. And my immune system would get lazy.

Re: Gates Powergrip Hose Clamps

If they were to make them like a roll of tape where you could put on several wraps and then shrink. They'd get my business. Other wise I'd need a warehouse full of the things for all the different sized hoses aboard.

The other problem would be getting the heat all the way around for a full shrink.
And the price is pretty steep. I could buy at least 5 SS clamps to start with for the price of a small Shrinker.

I don't know... the cheapest I can find 316 SS AWAB clamps for is about $2.50 for the sizes I need.

I pay less then $1 for SS 3/8" hose clamps at my local marine supply (Harbor Marine).

Sorry, those are not the hose clamps I want on my boat. Even at Florida marine stores, the cheapest I have found for high quality AWAB or ABA hose clamps is $4. They go for $6 at WM.

Anyhow, I see the advantages of the heat shrink hose clamps: even distribution of the clamping force, no metal parts to rust, no sharp edges. I only have three sizes of hose clamp on my boat, so keeping extra is no big deal.

Re: Gates Powergrip Hose Clamps

After slicing into the tendon on my thumb I went out and bought these for all of the hose clamps aboard.

Clamp-aid is the brand. Some of the best money I ever spent. They stay on really well and give a nice finished look aside from saving blood. I Still don't have full range of motion in my thumb The heat shrink clamps are an interesting idea; I will have to pick up a few to try out. Thanks for the link.

I have no problem with them, they are 100% SS clamps. No rust!

I have some of those also. I find they fall off easily.

I use Rescue Tape also. Works well but I wonder if I'm starving the hose clamp of oxygen?

Oh, I don't know - just found them on the internet and thought they were interesting. Thought I would post the find and see what popped up.

I don't use them on my boat.
