The burner has a cup at the bottom for pre-heat. Will probably refit the heater for propane. Thanks for all the info.

Well I pulled the tank, it was a gravity fed kerosene.... no emergency shutoff..... just a line from the tank to the heater. Now it's trash.

Force 10 tanks have never had a shut off and they shouldn't. For the heater to burn properly the tank must be pressurized. The tank should be mounted below the level of the heater.

This was an unpressurized tank, mounted above the heater, gravity fed.

should be refactored to pressure below. gravity fed not give consistent flame. And I wonder how air got in there to allow flow effectively?

I have no idea how or if it worked, the previous owner is not around. I plan to swap the burner out of for LPG and run a new line. Thanks to all for the help.
