Chain plate failure, dismasting in the Southern Ocean

For a meticulous description of tracing down hardware failure after a dismasting, go to the Alberg30.com website, "Boat Maintenance", then click on Spars, Sails and Rigging. The story of Yves Gelinas will provide instruction and entertainment as well as a lesson in clear thinking and acting in...ahem...less than ideal sailing condtions.

What a trip! Not one I think that I will make. I have no desire to round the horn, other places beckon.
Cheers
