Hi again, Getting back to the original post, I believe the criteria was for low power consumption as he won't be plugged in to shore power. The hydronic heater is a fuel hog and a power hog. I read on Sure marines site that it uses up to 7-8 gallons of fuel a day and draws 7.5 amps. This is for the small unit. On the west coast of Canada that would be about $30 dollars a day for the fuel and two or three times more draw than my fridge. Yikes! Compare that to two sigmars burning two to three gallons a day total and maybe one amp /hour for misc fans and the small impulse pump. My relex heater with six radiators burns 1-2 gallons a day and is rated for 70,000 btus. One small pump at half and amp/hr, and that is it. It also keeps the engine warm and provides hot domestic water for showers etc.

Miracles sure happen. There are 140000 BTUs in one gallon of diesel, which, if following rule of physics and if heater is 100% efficient should mean that 2 gallons should last 4 hours, but miracles do happen, or maybe I just do not know something (which is more likely ).

Our boat came with an old Ardic 04D diesel heater that I've been trying to revitalize, and I almost have it working again. I'd like to talk to others that have one of these units, and maybe I'll get it operational again.
