25 ft wooden boat reconstruction

Hi,
A 4 years ago I bought an old wooden boat, constructed 30 years ago at Odessa, Ukrainian city.

The condition in which I got the boat was not very good:

I started with removal of old decayed deck and installation of new beams:

New deck installed and painted with protective compound:

Old fiberglass removed, as it started to exfoliate from the hull and replaced by new fiberglass:

After that, I accidentally discovered that keel beam is also decayed (there was a "sandwich" of plywood). Old keel beam was removed:

and replaced to oak.

The hull of the boat was plastered:

New rudder installed:

And hull was finally painted:

The work inside the cabin began:

Underwater part painted with antifouling:

Deck covered with teak:

Stainless steel constructions set and aluminium mast was bought:

Nicely done.

Basically you built a boat.

Would you do it again or just buy one in better shape?

Very nice job! I was wondering what that compound is that you used to treat the wood.

Re: 25 ft wooden boat reconstruction

Heh Z, how much money do you think you dropped into the reconstruction process? Any idea how many man hours?

Nice job. She came out beautifully. My boat wasn't as big of a mess as yours. But i had to sand it down to bare wood and refiberglass the whole bottom up to a little over the water line...and then did the same thing from the gunnels to the top of the cabin...Whew...wore me out and the bank account took a 20K dollar hit.

Thanks for sharing...very very cool...alan

Motor worked at 2/3 of max power at that video. I will record a full power test at next navigation.

It is hard to say exactly, as worked over 4 years with few long breaks.
I think, all work can be done in one year.
As for how much USD - it is very hard to say exactly.
