Valvtect fuels--worth the cost?

Is it worthwhile and/or desirable to use Valvtect diesel? The boat I am buying has a 1986 Yanmar with 4000+ engine hours. (It has been carefully maintained by a professional sailor).

Re: Valvtect fuels--worth the cost?

I think you will find that the Valvtect dealer gets his diesel from the same refinery that supplies other diesel fuel docks in your area. In other words, it is all the same. The only benefit of Valvetect brand being on the pumps is to influence you to buy their additives.

Do their additives work? Maybe yes and maybe no. The only additive worth purchasing IMO is a biocide additive to keep bacteria from growing in your diesel (well with a little water thrown in).
