No Power in Reverse

Have Universal diesel with Hurth transmission.
When throttling in reverse, there is no power, but fine in forward gear.
Anyone have suggestion why and possible remedy.

Is the cable travelling freely to fully select reverse ? Disconnect at cockpit controls, operate trans. shift lever, and see if cable end fitting and control attachment points co-ordinate. If so, maybe worn clutch in trans. Checked fluid ?

Thanks for that advice, will look in to it when back at the boat.
However, would it affect the throttle?

Throttle linkage, and engine responce should not be affected whilst checking gear selection travel and performance.

Are you saying 'no power' as in engine revs but little thrust or engine remains at or near idle while in reverse?

As if you have no fuel, but fine in neutral or forward.

Does the engine rev up when you put it in reverse?

If so I would suspect a folding pro problem, hence why I asked about prop type.

If it does not Rev up then check your linkages.

Do you have a single-lever dual-function control, or a two-lever (one each for throttle & gear shift) single function control.
