Missing Engine Data Plate

hi to all

when I purchased my boat , the engine had undergone a complete paint job and the engine plate ( with the make ,the serial # etc..) was painted over. to my amazement, after scrubbing the paint , I dicovered that it was missing altogether !! I wonder if there is a way to order another one from the manufacturer (YANMAR) ? and if so what would be in your opinion the required info to give..
thanks

Ask your local Yanmar dealer:
Yanmar America Corporation - Dealer Locator

And see Yanmar Engine Identification Help:
Yanmar Marine Engine Identification Yanmar Torresen

How are you going to determine what the serial # is?

On my engine I have the ID plate mounted on an engine cover, and there is another location on the block right where the head meets the block...it night be like that on your engine too. You might check some YANMAR manuals to see if numbers are located on the engine block.

Do you have the original binder owners manual with your boats systems in it? In my C&C's original manuals I have the comissioning check list and the engine serial number is on it. Also some previous surveyor may also have noted the serial number in his survey, worth a look.

my yanmar was painted also .. but the previous owner had the insight to remove the serial number plate and save it. this would be easy to loose or misplace. i don't see a whole lot of value in it. mostly i am interested in engine hours.
