Johnson VRO 50hp Two-Stroke ( 1990 I Think )

having trouble with outboard engine, i was told that it ws around the 1990 its a 50 hp engine outboard 2 stroke and it is not charging the battery and it is a big time pain in the ass, somebody has been at it before me but i am going to try and take some pics myself this evening so i can explain more but if anyone out there would be able to guide me in the right direction i would appreciate it, or know of a web page to get info.

The charging system is pretty simple on those; a module and a stator under the flywheel

You can test the stator with a ohm test , yellow with red tracer wires
