I need to replace the zinc on my beneteau 343

I can't find the size of the shaft. It may be 25mm but I haven't been able to confirm this. Can anyone point me to a source to confirm this?

Yes, your prop shaft is 25mm in diameter.

There's always the direct method, which has zero chance of being wrong. Using a set of calipers to check it. Though it's only failsafe if you measure the shaft in the location where the zinc is to go. One the other way is to pull off your current zinc & measure it.
Or, measure it at the transmisson & next to where it exits the hull. Though with this last method there's a tiny chance of being wrong, in that there are a small percentage of shafts out there which aren't the same diameter for their entire length. But... the odds are in your favor on this that your shaft is but one diameter from "tip to tail".

I've serviced half a dozen Beneteau 343s over the years. Every single one had a 25mm shaft. Take it to the bank.

Exactly what I was thinking.

Dive Caliper - Underwater measurement made easy. - Zebra-Tech
of course no listed price, ‘if you have to ask, you can’t afford it’. :-)

but these would probably be accurate enough at $0.91

No need to get wet. Most of the shaft is in the boat. Outside there's about 3/4 of an inch and then the prop.

Depending on the boat sometimes it can easier to jump in the water than get to the shaft in the engine compartment. No idea how I'd know that. :-)

You reminded me that the first time I went to check the zinc on the propeller shaft of my 'new' used sailboat there was not enough exposed shaft for a zinc or to take a measurement. Turned out a zinc plate was located on the side of the hull with a wire running into the engine compartment. The wire was attached to a piece of metal that was rubbing on the propeller shaft. Live and learn.
