Fuel fill gasket... good online source?

Have been having a heck of a time finding a replacement o ring gasket for my diesel deck fill:


Not sure what brand it is (can't find markings on it anywhere). 1 1/2" ID / 1 1 3/4" OD fits well, but all I can find (like the Perko ones) in that size are 1/8" thick or more, which does *appear* to work to seal water from coming in the deck fill but it makes the cap stand proud of the filler neck, which makes me nervous about possible water intrusion.

Looking around I guess one option is to drive all over trying different automotive shops, although even with that I worry about how a random o-ring would handle diesel (probably not a big deal but...).

Anyone have an idea of what brand / model this deck fill is, and/or where to source an o ring that's 1 1/2" ID but more like 1/16" in thickness or so?

They must exist, that's what I took off and replaced (it was looking old and ratty but I still have it and might have to go back to it before winter).

go to a seal and bearing supplier, not an automotive parts house. Shouldn't be a problem to find the right o-ring.

Thanks Jim... is it a safe bet that anything I get there won't degrade if splashed with diesel?

Pretty safe, almost all o rings supplied by a seal and bearing supplier are suitable for common oils; a splash of diesel will not hurt them.

Just measure it and order online. It’s just an oring

I ordered mine from Amazon but measuring was not so easy. It turned out to be 3/32X 1 3/4 inches. As to whether it was OD or ID I don't remember. Be as careful as you can with measurement. They are very inexpensive so mis measurement is not a big deal

Go on fleabay and you can find o-rings, imperial and metric, in a very broad range of sizes and materials. First use a caliper to measure the internal and external diameters, then calculate the thickness needed. Buy either nitrile (buna-N) or viton for diesel. The fact that the cap is sticking up does not necessarily mean that it is not sealing, but it might if it is trying to seal the threads rather than the smooth surfaces.

Just about any place that makes up hydraulic hoses will have a supply of various sizes of O-rings. If not, they usually can make them in a matter of minutes.

I took the old one to Ace hardware and got 6 of them Replaced them all and kept spares !
