Clear fuel line for Diesel

Starting out, I have a single150 gallon stainless diesel tank with no fuel guage. What is used in its place is a clear tube that has grown cloudy over the years, Their is also a red bead, Ball, or whatever it is that shows you the level. The question is what type of line would you replace it with, or would you cap it off and get a mechanical type? I realy don't want to cut a hole in the tank for reason you know, and it sure is nice to know for a fact the level of fuel in the tank. I think the line is regular clear fuel line from a automotive parts store but not quite sure, What do you think, and does anyone else have this system?

I installed an eletric fuel-level sender/gauge.

Really simple stuff and not expensive either: Just drill a hole, run some cable and you are all set. Combine the operation with a good tank cleaning, which is probably due anyway...

Here is the stuff I used: WEMA USA, Inc. Home Page - Boat fuel, water and holding tank level sensors and related instruments

Thanks CSY Man

Installing a sender was on top of the list, but keeping it simple realy appeals to me. I just need to know if anyone has a system like mine and what type fuel line they used.
