Here's a cat on the west coast of Mexico, which in my mind would be a comparable boat to the LeRouge. The ad is locked in the Lattitude 38 magazine.

Assuming you're referring to my post regarding some boats holding their value better than others, I recommend you read it again and notice that I said "Assuming I could sell my boat....."

my solaris 42 has borg warner v drives one original one has been replaced. the one that has not been replaced leaks a little oil when it is completely full she gets down about 1/4 gt quits leaking ..

You are not alone thinking your boat is more worth than the others. Have you seen any late sales of a 471?

I also should say that Catanas hold up pretty good. I have worked on several. But nobody in the business gets market value.

It's simply priced to high...
Every boat has a price the seller is willing to take and a buyer is willing to give. Those two haven't come together yet.

That doesn't mean there is anything wrong with the boat, it just means the song-n-dance of the deal hasn't happened yet. I think it was mentioned that the seller really didn't "need" to sell her...and that is why LOTS of boats sit without selling. They don't want to take what the market says she is worth, they have some fake number in their head with their memories, gear upgrades and purchase and ownerships costs which has nothing to do with what the boat is worth.

We know the owner rejected an offer, about six months ago, for a cash amount only about 15% less than we want to offer.

That rejected purchase offer sets the floor for our offer but another six-months and $15,000 of expenses have gone by so maybe this time a similar offer might be closer to the number needed.

Wow, I'm impressed. Moorage here in the soggy Northwest runs me $246/mo for my 47'er so say $260 for 51'. Moorage in Seattle is a bit higher, say $10/ft so $510/mo. I'm not sure what WA boat tax would be, but no one in my marina has a monthly diver or boat wash. You guys in San Diego pay a lot for the extra 320 days of sunshine.

But consider the difference once you go cruising:

$0/month slip fee
$0/month property tax
Diver? Are you kidding me?
$0/month boat wash
$??/month for all maintenance - variable, depending on what you DIY

Of course you have to haul out once in a while and buy parts, etc., and replace "consumables" (which includes sails), but far less than $16K/month.

Almost 200 posts and nothing solved. There have been a few people that have posted cats that are approximately the same price, size and performance level but the op hasn't commented on these. Instead he's commented on a boat like a Lagoon which isn't even close to the same class as the LeRouge. I think this thread is a lost cause.
