I think the Sugar Scoop on a Cat or monohull is a great start. After that easy Bunk access and mattress quality is a real issue if you plan to really cruise long term. A good sized separate shower with a seat is very handy and a good storage space when in a marina for a while. Large water and fuel capacity will make life easier depending on where you go. I would like a compact washer dryer but this would mean a host of extras and a bigger boat to fit them (Watermaker, generator, etc.) Start with the basics and move up if you like it. The best advice I give to folks is "Don't sell the house!" until you give it a go.
