Lagoon4us - Why did you choose a Lagoon over a Seawind? As they are here in your back yard - Australia? The sloped windows, price and size as well....

That's easy. Seawind doesn't make a big 44 with a flybridge.

My take. Are no secondhand 1250's available set up for liveaboard at anywhere at similar price.

Nowhere near same room for liveaboard, genset to run laundry etc.

Good place to start a cruise via med, usa, carrabiean before Pacific.

It dissapointed me with Seawind when they built the 1250 that they didn't update the looks (more like the Corsair 50ft cat) rather t0an a 1000, 1160 lookalike.

That's just personal preference and nothing to do with the capabilities of the vessel.

Sadly on this forum if i were to state my reasons for MY choice it would bring down vehement comment by the armchair brigade.
WE chose our boat for our reasons, today we move aboard...
It's been years since we lived aboard now we are going back to the life. Cheers Frank

Yes we watched most of "Honeymoon's" video's a while ago. It looks great! These videos fan a little oxygen to our dreams until we can get out there ourselves.....

The Hynes videos are in a way like the Bumfuzzle Blogs. They make you realise that you can also do what they are doing. The Hynes haven't let on much regarding their experience; there are references to Seth having been experienced racing but they didn't give a lot of info. Bumfuzzle's on the other hand made their prior experience well known.

Re: Seawind V Lagoon, Leopard, Fountaine Pajot

Provide a little oxygen?

I credit Seth & Elizabeth with providing fuel, oxygen and a light to our trip! I had the dream to cross the Pacific, but my partner was really hesitant.

At the time, we hadn't cruised much together and her experiences, mainly more 'racing' type sailing, had not helped with the idea of sailing/living aboard for a year+.

After about 2 minutes of watching those videos, she said "That actually looks great!". After an hour+ of watching them all, she said "I'm in, but only if we can do it on a catamaran!" :bang head:

Now that I've gotten comfortable with the safety of cruising a cat, it's only the fact we'll be spending more than double what I had hoped on our boat that makes me wonder if showing her those clips was the right thing to do!
