I have a 35ft sailing catamaran looking into taking the windward side up the Bahamas chain when they leave Turks and Caicos in two weeks time to get to me in Fort Lauderdale.
My dad has not got enough info to make a informed decision of windward or Leeward.
If we monitor the weather and all looks good is the windward route a option for him, what does he need to watch out for besides bad weather.

Hi,
I Sail on the east side of the Bahamas routinely. From Turks and Caicos as well. Absolutely no problem staying in the deep on the east side. Biggest issue is the number of
cruise ships travelling there. They are not a problem except in heavy rain when
radar may be less effective. As always, just pay attention. They tend to go north/south except when they cross back and forth to
Florida. Of course if you are not going non-stop you can go in to the Bahamas Banks any time then come back out to the deep. Make sure you have Explorer Chart
Books for the Bahamas Banks. Have fun.
