Older Leopard 40 motors - 19hp?

I was looking at a listing for an older Leopard 40, and was surprised to see that each motor was 19hp, for 38hp total. That seemed awfully low to me, and I worked it out to 4.5 hp / ton of displacement.

Has anyone sailed one of these with these smaller motors? Was it underpowered when motoring? Is there anything to be done about it other than spend $$$ to replace both motors?
