At least way better than 70sqm and 11.6 tons (Lagoon 39).
About Lipari:89,4m² and 9,3 T max. ( 7,75T "lège" )
so: 86kg for 1sqm Lipari and 93 for new one
should be less efficient ( on the paper at least ! )

compare to 165 kg/sqm for the L39 !

Is DAS / "displacement per sail area" a well known characteristic for cats? I known only SAD.

The Mahe is 65kg/sqm in these terms but we certainly loose on fridge-size per sail area.
At the end these figures are just one of many factors determining the performance.

Re: New FP 38

Hello,

Are more information now available in US about this new FP 40?
I'm french and FP told me that the official launching would be one June 15th.
I'm more than impatient...

The windows seem to match the drawings at the start of the thread. I don't know what another FP that has those windows.

Great Photo Cheeky, that is the new FP38. Note the big fat deep hulls.

Can you post a front view.

You most likely snapped a photo of hull #1.

The only FP boat that has those windows is the Saba 50 and that is not a 50 footer.

Its the 38 footer Hull #1

Re: Anybody have info on a new FP 40' cat?

As per the super secret confidential info: here is a pirated video from the unveiling in France to the FP dealers. The production method provides for finished glass on both sides of the mould decreasing labor. It's most like the Open 40, but has Lagoon 450 living space. Very sleek and low windage, and looks light and fast. Don't tell anyone I leaked the Super secret. 15 sold. Anyonr want to buy my '14 lagoon 450? I want one! Video https://youtu.be/onRc3lDyvGU

Cheeky, Now worries. That first photo tells a lot. Great Job.

Its interesting that the Rudder is behind the Prop.

All of there smaller designs used to have the rudder in front of the prop

Re: Anybody have info on a new FP 40' cat?

I. Like the size and open feeling for living at anchor.

If I look at the stern width of the model I doubt she will be a performer, but more a workhorse with big carrying capacity. For me this is the wrong way to go unless they proof me wrong and show realky good performance.
The biggest competitor Lagoon 400 they call an old generation cat. No clue what is meant with old... just because the design has been around for 6 years?

If they called the Lagoon 380 or the Lavezzi old generation I would agree but the 400?

Re: Anybody have info on a new FP 40' cat?

I wouldn't sell the 450 just yet. Considering the 450 has more space than the Helia and this is a shrunken Helia at around 6' less length, the living space seems more like the L39 which they seem to be competing with this model

Anybody have info on a new FP 38' cat?

This will compare on par with the Lagoon 380S

It has FAT, Deep, WIDE, Slow Hulls and at 38 feet it will perform like a real porker, but have plenty of space.

It will be a perfect charter boat for those long 3 mile hops between islands.

The sails will just be for SHOW.

Re: New FP 40

Horses for courses.
I do like the looks and for a different der of requirements she could be a perfect fit.
Very nice for living aboard without crossing oceans like some snowbirds.

But even then I would prefer a L400
