Light Air Sailing

Of all of the 42' to 44' multi hull sailboats out there today, which boat sails better and points better in light air and why?

Don't think there's an easy answer to that one. In light air the fastest most weatherly boats will likely be tri's due to less wetted surface. As far as cats go, light weight, narrow, daggerboard boats will be the best performers in light air. Very few production boats fall into this category in the length you specify. Outremer comes to mind, Gunboat 48 a bit larger. There are many custom boats that will be better performers in light air and here you can take your pick of many designers such as Schionning, Grainger, Hughes, White to name a few.
