Endeavourcat 30 New owner

G’day Shipmates. We, the Admiral and I, have just become the new owners of a 1992 Endeavourcat 30 which we believe was sailed to Australia from Panama under the name Uhuru back in 2008. She is now called “Purrfect” and we’ll stick with that because for us she is. Purrfect is probably the only Endeavourcat 30 in Australia and we would like to know if there is a gathering of other owners on facebook, CF or elsewhere with which we can communicate.
Already I have questions such as where is the best place to install a watermaker and a water heater and, when we move aboard next week, there will no doubt be many more. Your advice on multiple matters will be appreciated.

Well, we live aboard our Endeavourcat 36 sail cat.
I've been looking for some kind of owners association or forum.
I see Gord May has posted an owners forum through Multihills4us, but I'm travelling today so will check it out later.
We have a fair amount of info on our boat from the previous (only) owner, but I'd love to find schematics on plumbing and electrical if they ever existed...
That being said, I can tell you our 6 gal (US) water heater is in the port hull engine compartment, and the watermaker, which is now removed, was in the starboard engine compartment, directly abaft the engine, over the holding tank.
The PO had apparently removed the 30 gallon holding tank the boat was built with and installed a 15 gallon tank to make room for the PUR Survivor (circa 2000) watermaker.
We reversed it, and as part of a complete head system refit, have installed a new 25 gallon holding tank.

You’re right, Purrfect has one 60hp Yamaha four stroke gas outboard and no engine compartments.

Curious...do you have the aft berths? If so, what's under them, storage?
While we were looking at Endeavourcats (and other narrow-beam mid-30' cruising cats), Bob Vincent made us aware of your boat's voyage. Pretty inspiring, and helped to diminish any qualms we had about seaworthiness or sailing ability with the realatively narrow beam. Best Wishes from (chilly) New England.

Nice boat, I wouldn’t mind looking at her twice. Yes, Purrfect has the aft berths in each hull. At the moment the under berth storage houses a water tank on both sides, a 200ah battery on starboard and a drawer on port. I’ll be looking to see if I can house some additional electrical equipment such as a ProNautic battery charger and an inverter and associated switches etc. with 2 additional LiFePO4 100ah batteries in the port hull under the berth.

I am having a hilarious time trying to arrange insurance cover. The name “Endeavourcat” appears to be unacceptable in Australia. Three quotes have come back for Endeavours with Yanmar inboards instead of my Endeavourcat 30 with Yamaha 60 hp outboard despite having attached the Surveyors Report and photos.

Does it matter if you tell them your boat has a 4.42m beam and the quote comes back at 3.4m?

Am I the only person who reads the Product Disclosure Statements that accompany policies? How many people have motors that are more powerful than that specified by the hull builder and have policies which are invalid as a result?

Does it worry people other than myself that there are addendums to the pds which over rule the pds, such as if you anchor at Airlie Beach you invalidate your insurance but there is no reference to this addendum in the pds? What if you didn’t receive it or didn’t notice the extra sheet forming part of the 43 page list of why we will never pay up no matter what you do?

Sailboat data lists original power as a Honda 25 horse.

I had noticed that also. If that is indeed the hull manufacturer’s recommendation then I wonder how many Nautilus Insurance customers are sailing without valid insurance.

I would think not that many. Your 60hp outboard sounds very unusual for a 30' cat. Would expect to see a single or double Yamaha 9.9 or similar.
Not sure how you would go about getting a dispensation for your set-up but well spotted in the small print!
