Current Status of My Gemini Cat

Good to hear your close to getting your Gemini back in your hands and getting her fixed and sailing again. We've been sailing our Gemini 105Mc lots lately sence our spring breezes have been around 20 kt's regularly. I'll be interested in seeing pic's of your fixes.

Most ins companies offer the owner first right of refusal to purchase back their boat.

Well its all happening now,

The Assesor has said my payment was being arranged and paid into my account today,

The trucking company (Aquatic Boat Transport, Brisbane) has said they will have a truck there to pick up my boat on Monday, the second of April.

Noakes have said they will have my boat Desailed and Demasted by the 30th of March.

I have a home for her at Yaringa Marina on the hard, Nice flat spot down the back, with plenty of trees close for cooling in the summer, and for keeping the wind down,

I just need to make a couple of decent tressels for her to sit on,

I am looking forwards to getting my Baby finally home, Even if on a truck,

I have a fibreglasser already lined up for the hulls and he is keen to go,

If you think I am happy about it, Your darn tootin I am. Hahahahahaha

I will be in Nelson Bay at the Marina on the second to see my Gem loaded for Melbourne,

It took a while, But it is finally happening, 3 months of Emotional ups and downs and not knowing what was happening, I have full control again,

Its all in my hands now, Yeeeeaaahhhhh,

This will be one Cat that can sit on any sandy beach anywhere, These new hulls will have beef in them,

I may even look into a V under the Bridge deck to reduce the slam,

Its not the way I wanted it, But I now have a very cheap boat,

And from what I have learned, Tho could be wrong, there are only 3 Gemini's 105MC's in Australia,

MR B, are you aware of the place barely a few KMs from Yaringa that specialises in cat repairs and has haul out and on the hard for $30 a week??

There is a Perry 40 something sitting there at the moment from memory amongst others.

Looks to be a couple of cats and a tri there in this photo. The one on the left closest to the circular drive is a Perry Azure 40.

I went there by road when I was looking for some where to build my 40 foot steel cat,
But he didnt like the idea of me shotblasting my cat there,

Yaringa's Channel is only 8 metres wide, My steel cat is 8 metres wide, so I cant get it out of there. And I am not reducing the width of it, So I couldnt build it there, either.

Main thing at the moment, is getting my little cat home and getting it fixed and sea worthy again,

Its an hours drive from my home, But being down there and getting to know people, It will open a whole new ball game for me, The possibilitys are endless.
I may even finish my steel one,

It makes it very hard when you dont know any one,

Plus. 6 months ago, I didnt have the money to scratch my self with. Hahahahaha

That cat sitting in the creek, is it sitting on mud when the tide goes out,
I have only seen it from the land, and it didnt look like you could get a wide cat in there, Too many bushes to look through,

Most of my first steel hull is still sitting in my front yard, I may still build it, at the moment its on the back burner, I need some where close to the water to finish it off and then lift it straight into the water,

The Cannons creek joint I'm thinking would be ok for the Gemini as there is a Perry 40 that got in there ok. He has a customisable cradle for launching,

I'll ask about the cat up the creek, it belongs toma guy at works father. Dunno what it is, I've only seen it from the air out of Tooradin.

I would have been, I only pull 3 feet of water in it,,
But they wouldnt let me use that outer side on the Hard stand to launch her,

Greenies have gone berserk in Western Port bay, You cant do any thing down there, Crossing the beach is a real, NO No. I may damage some things habitat,

My steel one has a 3 inch exposed full lenght steel keel to sit on rocks and reefs with out damage,

Errr, except for damage to the reef? Nothing a few more thousand years will fix....

No.

5-10 yrs for coral to regrow on GBR. Less than 10 yrs after cyclone wipeout.

Of course you don't want to be doing it reqularly in same place. Thesedays the mooring balls in the Whitsunday area anchorages are a necessity to protect the coral from the bareboaters.
