Checking out our first round of cats tomorrow!

Super excited to be starting our shopping and looking at an Admiral 40 and Leopard 40 tomorrow.

Should be fun to check out the catamarans.

You need to decide what you are going to do with the catamaran so that you know better what you are looking for in a catamaran. An offshore capable cat is different from a coastal cruiser. High latitude sailing cats need very high bridge deck clearances for example.

We complete noobs so relying on the vast experience and knowledge of those more seasoned. The endless amounts of research can only take you so far so we have been getting detailed insight from those with first hand delivery experience across the Atlantic, as well as chatting to owners and the relevant production factories.

So far the feedback is in favour of the Admirals over the production built Leopards which are still great boats.

Will share my thoughts after seeing them today.

You can't just lump all Leopards together, some models are better than others, for example the early mid 200s 40 designed by Morelli Melvin are great allround boats with good bridge deck clearance etc.

We found the 2005 Leopard 40 just too small inside. Low headroom and really tight.

They are fairly narrow for their length so could imagine saloon being cramped. They sail quite well for that type of cat.

This was an older 2005 so completely different from the new 2016 shape which is very spacious.
