Travel Nursing and Cruising

Hey all,

I found an old thread on this subject, but it was last updated in 2013. Hoping some of you can add recent experience to the topic....

We, myself and partner (a nurse), are looking into travel nursing options as a way to sustain a cruising lifestyle. Our only stipulation is that the nursing positions be in cities on the water, so that we can use marinas (if accommodation is not a part of the travel nurse deal). It doesn't matter which country (US or abroad).

Has anyone here recently or currently used travel nursing while cruising?
Any specific placement companies you found to be preferable?
How difficult was/is it to find work on coastal cities where you can live aboard?

Thanks for any insight.

Re: Travel Nursing and Cruising

I’m a retired nurse in Florida. THough I did not do travel nursing, I worked with several who did. There are many hospitals in Florida that are on ot near the coast. I think there are three in the keys. Has a few friends who took the boat to St Thomas and worked at the hospital there ( they loved the lifestyle but were not impressed with the hospital.
Good luck!

If Australia or New Zealand are on your travel agenda, I can add info. Although the common name for that kind of thing here, is called 'agency nursing'
