Hi Folks,

Could someone tell me the name of this prop retaining, cotter pin supporting, zinc mount thingy that goes just behind the nut that holds the prop on? The threads in mine are shot, and I need to get another one or fix this one.

Hey, this is my first sailboat with an engine, Btw, it's on a 1974 Bristol 27 with a Bukh DV 10 and ZF BW-6 Gearbox

possably called a captive nut,but would suggest simply drilling out the threaded hole and tapping it for a larger diam bolt. ie if prev was 10mm,drill and tap for 12mm

I understood OP's problem to be that the thread in the propeller nut is stripped, not the thread for the bolt holding the zinc to the nut. If so, he should replace it. I don't know the shaft diameter, but you can find these here: ZINC PROPELLER NUT ONLY 5/8-11 SHAFT 7/8" SZ B 118881

It's the part the zinc is attached to that's messed up. (see picture) Prop nut is fine. I should have been more clear I reckon........

drill and tap,use a longer bolt with a washer on it if the nut is too big for the recess,looks like their is plenty of diam to redrill on the end of the prop nut

Okay, I'll check it out...........we may have the correct tap at work.
