Lookin at a CS Merlin 36

What are the goods and the bads?

What do I look for as far as structural issues?

I would love to here some opinions on the performance!!!

One of the best boats that CS built. No known structural issues. Performs as well as any cruiser/racer type. A lot depends on the keel, CS had three different keels for this boat. There is a CS group on Yahoo.

The only bad thing is the shallow bilge.

If you're strictly interested in performance get a J or a Beneteau First but if you're looking for a great all round cruiser/racer with an excellent lay-out and quality hardware the Merlin might do.

But I might be biased.

I looked at a Merlin some years ago. There was a crack in cabin floor turned out to be from keel grounding. also cracked water tank. Otherwise I thought it a nice boat. Since it was difficult to tell how extensive the damage was I walked.
