Endurance 35 owners please ->

Endurance 35 owners:

I am in the process of buying an Endurance 35 and the surveyor said the keel bolts are rusted. I'm used to a long keeled boats having encapsulated ballast, such as my current Cape Dory.

Do the Endurance 35s have keel bolts (or ballast bolts)? If so, how do you gain access to them and why wouldn't they just encapsulate the lead in the keel?

Thanks,

-David

Nevermind. I went and inspected the boat. There are no keel bolts and the ballast is internal. The survey report was mistaken that and a few other things such as indicating the steering cables were serviceable (the boat has none as it's rack and pinion) and the propeller shaft packing gland is suspect (it's a dripless stuffing box).

He must have looked at several boats that day and got the notes mixed up.

Regards,
David

Sounds like a surveyor that you can trust. Perhaps just pay him for the things that he got right.

Coops.

Luckily I didn't pay him. The survey was done about a few months ago by some other people who were thinking of buying the boat. I probably should thank him since after the survey they didn't buy it, which is why she was available for me.
