Dress Code

In the cruising world it appears that the universal formal dress code consists of khaki slacks and blue blazer. My question concerns the blue blazer. What shade of blue should the blazer be, navy blue or sky blue? I know, I know, what difference does it make.

Navy Blue....and make sure you have a Captains hat with lots of scrambled eggs.....
and Get a real officers hat not one of those WM ones.

Seriously.....I have one I got from Jos Banks years ago......the thing is indestructable. White shirts with monogram cuffs...regimental tie.....black shoes or dress deck shoes.

When cruising in the tropics "formal dress" for guys is your best pair of shorts or bathing suit, a really nice tee shirt, a big floppy hat, and sandals or a newish pair of boat shoes. If you're not normally a beard guy, shaving can do a lot to improve this look.

I guess I hang with the wrong people, no wears blazers, your lucky if they are wearing shrits, and if they are they are not buttoned

That whole khaki pants with blue blazer is sooo "last year"!

Get with it... The military look is in!

Just Google Mhoamar Ghadafi, Edi Amin Dada, Manuel Noriega, or Michael Jackson and you will get a feel for it. Add to that some South Pacific facial tatoos and you will be all set. You will actually be able to attend a White House function without an invitation. What the hell, maybe you will be assigned your oun personal dictatorship somewhere where the locals are getting too upity.

I consider formal dress around boats to be any form of footwear and a shirt with a collar.

...only the Corinthian members match khaki's with their blazers. Senior members go with gray flannels this time of the year. Or white trousers, of course, during summer or in the tropics.

And it's not a blazer if the buttons are not gold.

If you're serious, Navy Blue Wool, double brested, modest lapels, black onyx buttons with gold rims. Gray flannel slacks in the winter, white summer weight zanella wool in the summer. Looks very sporting, eh?
