any negatives on depth sounders

I need a new depth sounder with a 2" bronze transducer, depth only, no speed, temp etc. I don't need great depths for finding shoaling islands at sea, etc. I do want as reliable a unit as possible.

Does anyone strongly recommend against any particular unit? It could save me a lot of hassle.

I haven't found this in "search." (Must be there)

thanks

Re: any negatives on depth sounders

Surrymark, if the "search" you did was just a CF search, that sometimes doesn't work as well as the Google search offered below the CF search.

In your shoes, I might Google on something like"depth sounder performance" and see what happens.

Good luck with it.

While there are many options and we don't know your budget or where you plan to display the depth data (separate display, existing chart-plotter, remote display head etc), I rather like the Furuno transducers like the B60-20 or the 520T-BLD.

Most include the options you don't want like water temperature but you might have to live with that :
