125: Fewer repairs for a monohull. It is so much easier collecting an insurance payoff for a boat sitting on the bottom.

Lost me on that one.

I had a fixed bridle on the last boat so no adjustment possible and never had any issues

But whenever the wind has got up its usually the mono guy that has to shift as they roll like a pig making sleep impossible.

Rattling chain and throbbing diesels at 2am from mono boy wake me up, wind and wave action has never made me actually move yet

126: You can race your cruising mono in PHRF for fun. Not many people race their cats- probably because it takes too much time to tack.

127: the "feel" of sailing that only a mono can provide- a little heel, a little weather helm, feeling the groove. Anyone out there recognize that?
Remember when cat owners split hairs about boatspeed: If you really were into it for speed, you would buy a powerboat, or drive/fly to your destination. Passages are more than just getting there.

yeah, those cats dont race pfft, most that do can out tack most mono's

And they heel and they get weather helm if sails are poorly trimmed, mostly they just track like they are on rails

Sail a good multi and you'll get a new appreciation for being "in the groove" that you will never have experience in your cruising mono

Speed is about broadening your horizons, classic example is Moreton bay where I live, monos usually only ever go to Peel Island from Manly for the weekend as thats as far as they can go and its a half to all day trip

Get the place all to yourself as most mono's cant manage a weekend here or at best get there late afternoon and leave early the next day.
