Here is a whirlpool that happened in my home state. Just a little bit more drastic.

Actually we fish in it and I used to tow logs and barges thru there many years ago

I remember smaller vortexes like that as a kid swimming in a river, the force wasn't strong and we were joking around them ...

Thinking back after reading this thread kind of makes me feel like I was lucky

As for the first video, kind of seems like is some sort of man made drainage ... freaky nonethe less.
