What to do with 6 inches?

Got two 6” well closers to 8” bits of 5mm dyneema left over after making shackles.

Probable too short to do anything useful with, but thought it’s worth asking before I discard them.

Any suggestions?

Can't think of anything right now, but you will find a use for them just after you throw them out.

I wouldn't touch that with a ten-foot pole. Or a six-inch one.

Use them for chafe sleeves. They are single braid and thus hollow. Thread whatever you need in them for a high chailfe area. Docklines, halyards, sheets, etc. Just be sure to whip the ends and give it a lock stick so it doesn't move or slide.

I had a couple of short pieces of dyneema left over after making some shackles and I put an eye in each end, wrapped it around a stanchion and shackled a turning block to it that my jib furling line passes through to align properly with a rope clutch. My boat has large diameter lifeline stanchions so it would have take a pretty large shackle to fit around the stanchion itself. Since you lack the length to splice in eyes to both ends, you could wrap it around the stanchion and then splice the 2 ends to each other and shackle your turning block to the loop of dyneema.
