Walker Bay Dinghy

Considering purchasing a Walker Bay 310 Dinghy with sailkit and Suzuki 6HP 4 stroke motor for sailing/puttering around a small 3 mile lake. This is for a totally novice sailor who may use this boat at the most a dozen times over a season. Any opinions?

Without the tubes it will be really really really unstable. Ask the dealer for an inwater demo before you buy.

Overall not a totally bad choice, has the benefit that would be an easy to maintain boat (mostly hose down). 6hp would be a bit OTT (in power and weight) - I had one on a 21 foot boat. Probably 2hp would be more than enough.

Anything that size would be a bit tippy (and going over to be expected at some point) - so the inflatable collar no bad thing.

Big plus would be if you buy bigger, the Walker Bay is a popular tender.

I've enjoyed sailing, rowing and motoring mine (2.5 hp) and haven't gone over yet but do plan to add a few fenders or floats to keep it that way. Tough, well designed little rig.
