volvo mb-10 water in crack-case oil....

My Tanzer 28 has been in the water 6 weeks and it has not yet left the slip. I have no history on this craft. Engine is a 2 cylinder flat head Volvo gas, MB10-A. Starts and runs great, but when I was going out for my first sail when the engine warmed up (about 30 min.) it started to pump milkly coloured oil out engine crack-case breather. Checked oil and it had become over-filled, ran out of dipstick hole. White very very thick baby-poo like oil. So thick it did not run out off oil filter when laid on side. Water was entering the combustion chamber. I ordered a new head gasket (cost $514)and took 4 weeks to arrive, planned the head, it was warped badly. I thought my problem was solved. Engine is still getting some water into the oil but not as much. Ran it for 40 minutes and it got about a liter extra in the oil. Still white and pretty thick.
Some water is dripping from a hole in the shaft of the of the water pump. Could bad seal or worn shaft in this pump be allowing water to enter the engine?
Could my block be cracked from freezing?
Could it be a gasket on the manifold?
I am resisting mounting an outboard on the stern but I am getting pretty close to that........I appreciate your input....

Re: volvo mb-10 water in crack-case oil....

Did you pressure test or crack test the head when it was off?

I never like to assume it's just a head gasket allowing water in the oil. I fashion my own pressure test apparatus for the head.

Checking the block is a little trickier as you may not be able to physically find the crack. I will often use the same head testing apparatus to pressure test the block.

$514 seems rather pricey for a head gasket.

Water pump will not leak into engine oil. That is a shaft seal leak.
