San Juan Islands Marine Surveyor

I would appreciate recommendations for a reputable marine surveyor in the San Juan Islands. Thanks.

Re: San Juan Islands Marine Surveyor

The surveyor I used is in Anacortes, but he might come over to San Juan or Orcas Island. I thought he did a good job: David Jackson, Pacific Rim Marine Surveyors

No better anywhere than Matt Harris who is over in Bellingham. If it is a purchase or insurance survey you will need to take it to Bellingham, Fisherman Bay or Anacortes for the haulout.
Good Luck

I second Matt Harris. He came down to Anacortes to do a pre purchase survey on our boat a few years back. Extremely knowledgable and very thorough.

Matt did my boat- yeah, I would use him again. What they said. He sometimes does flights down to Cali to do surveys down there, so I'm sure he would come up to Friday Harbor.

Re: San Juan Islands Marine Surveyor

I'll put in a good word on Matt Harris too. Top notch. He did my first boat, and, indirectly, did my current boat. David Jackson in Anacortes is especially well respected for wooden boats, his specialty, although I'm sure he does surveys on plastic boats.

If you have a metal boat in play you may want to seek out a metal boat specialist.

VALIS is plastic, and David seemed quite thorough when he did my insurance survey. He was also pleasant and easy to work with.

Steel boat? A friend used Jerry Edwards for the survey of his steel boat: North Beach Marine Surveyors, Gerald L. Edwards, NAMS® CMS, Seattle Washington, USA - About Us

Here is the surveyor we used on the Spencer https://www.marinesurveyorsnorthwest.com/ Bob is retired navy and has done his own circumnavigation he is very knowledgeable and I'm sure he will do you a good job at a reasonable price if you do use him tell him you saw the bit about a free oil analysis at the end of his homepage.

Re: San Juan Islands Marine Surveyor

I guess I should have given an anti-recommendation. He may do someone else a good job but I was cancelled without notice by Jerry Edwards in Seattle which caused some big problems on a short time frame closing.

Re: San Juan Islands Marine Surveyor

I am a surveyor in the San Juan Islands, specializing in sail. I've been on Orcas Island doing surveys since 1988. I was a columnist for 48 Degrees North magazine called "Ask The Surveyor" for 18 years. I only do a limited number of surveys these days by appointment only. Let me know if I can help.
