I hesitate to type this, but here goes.

Forget you've got a spinnaker until you learn to sail the boat with the other sails. The spin has great potential to increase your speed, or break things.

i have heard that before. i believe you. i still need to know how to use it, and decide if it is worth having with all the space it takes up below deck.

Maybe you should just sell your boat and move to the desert. I have been thinking of doing just that for some reason:

Where you at? Heck very light wind days fly it at the dock. Just don't knot the sheets and be prepared to blow the halyard/tack.

i am guess this is nice to have on an ocean passage? worth the room it takes up?

If you don't know how to contr it, it cans broach your boat, or take you for a ride in a direction you don't want to go.

Yes keep it, but don't fly it until you've got the other stuff under control. It's killer to have in light air.

You have to "watch" the wind on the water and as the gust gets close go low. Then come back up after or just before it goes all the way past................to get the full benefit from it.

You may go too low or deep on the first one but you will learn on the next few how low you need to go.
