Permits for Passing Through (or around)

If one is cruising say from Florida to Barbados, how many places would they have to get a cruising permit? Now I understand that this is rather arbitrary, so another way to ask is... Do I have to stop in every country that I come close to and clear in etc.? (There are quit a few fron here to Barbados or Panama for example) Is there a international distance that needs to be kept away form the land?

I like to travel, and not necessarily set foot on a country but just pass through or around, and clear in when I need fuel or provisions.

Wouldn't it be nice to have a world citizenship... were everyone got along and shared language, culture, waters and land...

Generally speaking, you have a "right to innocent passage*", and neither have to clear in, nor stay outside of National waters.

* referring to a ship or aircraft's right to enter and pass through another's territory so long as it is not prejudicial to the peace, good order or security of the other state.
