Sorry, I meant to say Danforth style! It's US Navy WWII.

The Danforth is from near the bay area here in California.
The man who invented it was having trouble getting them sold till the US Navy bought one for every landing craft during WW II.
It may be that you have found one of those.
The Navy buys these kinds of things by the crate. It's a good bet military surplus sold a bundle of them.
In sand it or it's style has the best hold of any anchor, 'Practical Sailor' wrote, ( if memory serves me right). A Danforth held 1200 pounds while a Bruce only held 550.
Like all things with boats though, there is always another factor and in this case it was that the Bruce grabbed or dug in way more often.
I have a 75 pound Danforth as a yard ornament. It has curves in the flukes as well. It came from a friend who salvaged it in the near by river holding down an old duck blind. It and a few others are strewn about my property in varied sizes and condition.
I hear somewhere that the anchor is the most internationally recognized sign of good luck. So far it hasn't helped us with the falling home prices here...
It would appear that our house is just one big anchor around our necks for the moment...
