Most post offices (at least, the main offices, not the smaller stations) will hold mail that is marked "Post Restante" meaning, hold it for pickup there. The courier services (Fedex, UPS) will also accept "HOLD AT TERMINAL" for you to pick it up.

But it might be worth the $100 a year to get a full Amex card--the "junior" and free cards do not get overseas services. Call them up and ask what else your money buys you, it might be worthwhile.
