Forestay question

So this year i had my shrouds redone and bought new turnbuckles. Problem is the shrouds were sized for the old shrouds and the old ones used smaller turnbuckles. Right now my shrouds turnbuckles are pulled all the way in and its giving some good tension on my shroulds. The problem is with the forestay being a bit slack, unfortunately i cant get it trimmed today as it is Sunday but still want to go sailing.

My question is can i still go with the forestay being a bit loose ? I was thinking of going like this and just not using the jib ?

Any info is appreciated.

No backstay on this boat. I was thinking of shortening the forestay. So far for this season is the cheapest way to go i think.

Re: Forestay question

No backstay so swept back spreaders? Tightening the shrouds will pull the mast back - failing that, tie a knot in the forestay

Re: Forestay question

Put on your old turnbuckles,,,, What, you threw them away, never ever throw anything away sometime in the next 50 years you might find a use for them.

Buy Norseman terminals for the lower end, cut off the existing terminal, install the Norseman's and Bob's your uncle. Make sure you've got enough extension in your new turnbuckles to fit with the shortened wires. If not, toggles will cure that problem but an additional expense.

Unless the head stay is really really really slack, shouldn't be a problem sailing the boat. Won't point for beans because of the belly in the wire but should be okay.
