Don't Want a Blue Water Boat

I've been on this site a while and based on all the threads I think I've decided I don't want a blue water boat! It seems based on descriptions that these sail in real crappy weather and experience just miserable conditions.

I think I'm going to stick to a nice cruising passagemaker boat and just be happy with only seeing maybe 90% of the world in comfort if I manage to live long enough.

So I guess you basically support all the "I have never sailed but want a bluewater boat" dream threads! Time to stop that discussion and get a handle on the real dream.

No Don I, like you, had a less than optimum boat. Then I made other choices in my life.

50% sounds like a lot of real estate. When I said 90% I was thinking 90% of the world I would be interested in seeing by boat.

Those that don't like the thread are more than free to hit report button.

But I think we need to get off the blue threads and onto cruising threads.

Re: Don't Want a Blue Water Boat

I think there should be another option in your poll:

"A comfortable cruising boat for inland waterways (e.g. ICW), protected waters (e.g. lakes and bays) and river and coastal cruising."

As I see it, most sailors sail in those waters and not in "blue water" or "blue water passages" or "circumnavigations" or "high latitudes."

So don't get one.... and stop trolling for arguments by starting a ridiculous thread in order to stir the pot.

What happened to your friend smackhead who liked to play the same game?

You're stuck with no boat then... as many expound that even a Catalina 22 is a blue water boat!

I thought this forum had rules against trolling?
Can always count on Ken to be forced into responding

Well, Don, since the CF faculty has yet to come up with an acceptable definition of what "blue water" and hence a "blue water boat" might really be, I too believe that your poll is meaningless. As usual.

Sounds like a Macgregor 26M with a Rocna anchor and gun locker makes perfect sense.

Anything else?

If you put it on a freighter it can go anywhere.

Are you not seeing the delicious levels of hypocrisy in those two statements being in the same post by you?

Don't read the bluewater threads if you don't want to, or report them if that turns you on, and don't be so arrogant as to assume that you can tell people what topics or threads to post on.
