We've got dumped with 2-3 ft of snow and it's very wet and heavy. That means a typical 40 ft boat with a foot of snow on it could have another 6,000 lbs of weight. I know I had a long forgotten above waterline thruhull that was now below the waterline and filling the forelocker. After shoveling for an hour I raised my waterline by 5 inches. I noticed another guy also out at 5am shovelling his boat because of the same reason. No joke, we will loose a couple boats in the chesapeake because of this.

I have 2 solid feet so far. Shoveled the driveway and the truck out this morning. As soon as I finished, the snowfall accelerated,

but I had to do it just to keep up.

I put a boom-tent over my cockpit with a blue poly-pro tarp. The snow just slides off into the water. The deck has about 8" on it though. The waterline looks normal and I have 75 watt lights shining on my seacocks so all is well.

Boat is just outside of Curtis Bay. I'm in Philadelphia. We are getting hammered here as well.

The broker flew in last night so we could meet early tomorrow morning to do a close inspection before closing.

I'm out of town all next week and after that she has to go away for a while again.

Just how much DO you have in that area right now?

hpeer, Over 20 inches in Baltimore, probably over 24 and still falling. Forecast is for up to 30+. We are just a few miles from Curtis Bay.

I've got a boat now. It's in Bonavista, Newfoundland (about 49N.) Their weather is
Low = 33
High = 35
Drizzel

It has been such all year. I was in Tampa a few weeks ago with it at 26, Bonavista? 35.

Last summer, July 3? Frost warnings up there.

At least it is consistent.

Just reshovelled the boat. Those with cats like mine which are wide and flat are especially vulnerable. When I walked from my boat to a neighbors marina to help shovel out a friends cat whose owners was away at 7:30 this morning the snow was up to my knees, coming back from a friends house at 2pm the snow was mid thigh and it's still coming. I'm guess our boat would have at least partially sunk if I hadn't caught the failed through hull when I did, as the snow alone depressed the boat about 6" in the bow and 4" along the midhull before my first shovel. Part of the issue is that cats have fordecks with nets and fine bows as the weight is light, but this snow is turning the nets into a solid surface, so you've now got a 18 x 10 ft space that's meant to be only holding a few lbs of netting now holding 3,000 lbs of snow. A lot of monohulls because of their more A frame type shape are doing just fine, but powerboats and especially catamarans should be on the look out.

Same a little farther north just off the Magothy River. 26" last time I checked. Same drill. Shovelled our Lagoon 440 off at 5:30 am and just finished reshovelling it again. First time I've had second thoughts about having switched from mono to cat. And down 6" in the bow is about right. And the tramp was bad enough; the footwell at the forward seating area is a real pita to shovel out. Looks like it is winding down now, though.
