Bill HB 1423 looks like will run the cruisers out of Florida

It has some good parts, get rid of the junk boats and few other things
BUT it is going to give to much power to local towns to just tell people
to move on you can't sty here and all that crap.
Who owns the water the flows in and out to the Gulf and the Atlantic
I would like to know. Looks like people are going to sail other places in the
future. Goodbye Florida if that Bill goes through.

This bill is actually supported by several cruising groups as it clearly distinguishes between cruising boats and those NOT used for navigation. Towns / Cities / Counties are prohibited under existing law AND THIS BILL from restricting anchoring rights, UNLESS they are a State-sponsored participant in a program that establishes mooring fields. Those pilot programs are only in 3 locations I believe.

Lots of coverage on the Cruisers Net website and a complete explanation of the Bill's provisions can be found here:
Cruisers Net your best source for up to date information on the Waterway - Anchoring Rights

Brief summaries of pending legislation - such as the one you referenced here - can be misleading and clearly do NOT tell the whole story. This bill is an improvement over the present anchoring rights situation in FL.
