Jamaica - Great Place

I sailed through the Windward Passage last week bound for Panama, and encountered strong trade winds south of the Pedro Bank (35 gusting to 40) sat to a sea anchor for 12 hrs. My wife and father asked me to turn around and go to Jamaica.

We turned around, entered in Port Royal and I am glad we did...this island is beautiful, and the people are great!
I am anchored off Lime Cay right now and connected with a broadband modem that I bought...great service and inexpensive.

There have been some bad reports about Jamaica, but so far my experience has been good, and I intend on spending a few more weeks and visiting a few more of their many bays.

Bee, thanks for the info about Jamaica. Good to know. You guys have fun.

Yes, it can get a wee bit windy on that passage. We did it last May.

I have never understood what the dislike about Jamaica comes from.

Good people, food, scenery, diving, etc, dod I mention food, rum..

Used to dive on old Port Royale before they made it a protected sire, hope it still is.

Oh yeah, beautiful beaches also..

Old Port Royal is still a protected site. I found a place to fill my dive tank in Port Royal after sailing with it empty through the southern Bahamas because I could not find a place to fill it south of Nassau.

The beer, food, and rum is inexpensive here too.

Everyone that I have met has been friendly.
