Exumas to FL Keys Route

I'll be going from George Town to the Florida Keys soon and I'm undecided about the route. Basically, whether I should go north or south of Andros.

North seems the easy route with opportunities to stop and rest if needed, but is longer overall.

I can't find any information about a possible southern route. My Explorer charts are only large scale and show suspected coral for the area south of Andros. Another post here on CF makes anecdotal reference to a guy who was so confident south of Andros he would run it at night, but no details were given.

So, is there an accepted safe route south of Andros? I draw 4 feet but like a margin of safety.

I haven't done the southern route, but the north route is fun. We stopped in Atlantis for a few days then Bimini then Key Largo. You could stop at chub about half way to Bimini.

There was plenty of water all of the way.
