Hi folks i am looking for recommendations as to the best bank with the most branches in the Leeward and Windward Islands Also it would be nice if opening an account was not too strenuous a process. ATM i am in St Martin/Sint Maarten.

Re: Banking

Scotia Bank and Royal Bank of Canada are everywhere in the Caribbean. Opening an account with either one is not too difficult. There are more Scotia Bank branches than any other. I'm not sure why would you open an account in the islands; you'll be setting yourself up for audits by the IRS, if you're a US citizen.

As long as you keep the balance below about $10k-20K (?confirm on IRS site?) you don't have to do anything... Once you're over that you have annual reporting... Irritating but not a major problem
