Bahamas Destnation?

So my original plans were to sail with a friend of mine but his boats not ready and he's still up in the cold in North Carolina. I'm currently in Saint Augustine Florida until Thanksgiving and I've decided to cruise to the Bahamas on Friday until he gets ready. I've been looking into the area and I have all the charts, but I'm just wanting some first hand experience from cruisers as to what island is a good pick for me. Somewhere that has some nightlife as well as some good diving and sailing. Any help is appreciated.

I really liked the abacos. Good mix of quiet anchorages and towns with places to go. I'm also in st augustine. (Hidden harbor)

Thanks. I'll check it out. I ended up getting in right before the big blow Saturday and didn't feel like bouncing around so I ended up at the Conch House... Nice but pricey..

If you want nightlife in the Bahamas, Nassau. . Actually there's not a lot of nightlife in the Bahamas. The only place where you'll get a small mix of nightlife and diving Abaco is your best bet. For nightlife try South Beach in Miami .

If you don't want to go so far as the Abacos, Port Lucaya has at least SOME nightlife. It's not South Beach, though. pete

As much as I love the Abacos, I would also recommend Port Lucaya over the Abacos for night life. I'm sure there are some dive operators out of there as well.

I would have to agree with Vasco on nightlife. Stay in Hurricane Hole Marina and walk back and forth to to the Nightclub scene at the Atlantis. You can also head Downtown but keep your head about you from a safety standpoint. By day head to Rose Island by dink and enjoy the snorkeling, drinking etc.
