Siracusa tender theft

Tender thef...NOT an issolated event

in September 2017 we anchored in Siracusa harbor off the town quay. There were maybe 20 boats at anchor. After returning to the boat from town that evening we tied our new tender tight behind our boat and put my older daughter to sleep in the cockpit. During the night someone cut the tender line and stole the new Highfield RIB and Suzuki 20.

We reported the loss to the police...who were helpful in writing up a report for our insurance but were not interested in a physical description or photo of the tender.

After a number of discussions with locals from Sicily and Malta it is clear that this is a regular occurrence. None of the locals were surprised...each saying that “there are so many of these thefts”, “oh, another one” etc.

Please take extra cautions while at anchor in Siracusa/Syracusa
