We have looked at Fountaine Pajot and they are a lovely setup. Probably 2010 or newer? we have 245,000 Euro

For that size and price range you will probably be looking at an older Bahia - Nice boats and size, but personally I am not that keen on the 4 x toilet/shower setup that they have - for me some conversion work would be needed on them in this area.

I like it - Good layout and well designed for living space - I have only been on board one a couple of years ago and never sailed one, but I did ask the owner how they went to wind and he said perfectly and they point really high as well.......................... with the leeward engine running

Not sure you'll get one in your price range that does not need a fair bit of $ spent on it to bring it up to cruising spec. There are a few Ex Charters kicking around, but will need some serious $ spending to make it cruise ready.

What do think about this one?

https://www.boats24.com/sailboat/cru...lvo-motor.html

I realize it is probably an ex charter boat, but that seems to be what my price range is.

When is a good time of year to visit the US and go boat shopping?

I am in Australia, but would have thought a good time would be running into Hurricane season.

The pictures are probably not from the boat for sale and are incredibly limited along with the zero amount of information - I hope there is more than one engine though!

Worth checking up on for more info from them and if you want to take it further, I would get someone local (surveyor) to give it a 1 or 2 hour walk over before flying out as brokers can be very economical with the truth, even when directly questioned - I made that mistake with a trip to Spain to look at a cat

We have looked at a couple of Leopards and they seem to be a pretty comprehensive package, but also seem to be out of our price range.

Leopard 46 is a really nice boat, but still sell for a premium. I have also been on the Leopard 38 and 42 - Both OK boats, but not great for Size/layout in my personal opinion.

Sailed the 38 for a week and it sailed OK, but did not sail great to wind and was a real pig to tack and nigh on impossible to tack through a current without the iron sail.

The other issue with most of the Leopards (apart from the 46) is the low bridge deck clearance.

Have you checked the Moorings brokerage? Their fleet are all Leopards but branded as their own boats
