Looking for a good quiet modified sine wave inverter

My old 700 watt west marine special sale price inverter is about 4-5 years old. It seems to be getting a tad noisy, that is the fan seems louder. As I am more then slightly hard of hearing, this concerns me.

So I am looking for a new quiet and cheap 700 to 1000 watt modified sine wave inverter. One where the fan only runs when under load.

Any recommendations for a less then $100 700 watt inverter.

Can you just replace the fan?

That oddly is my idea, but I was going to use it then as a backup. I have a smalll 450 watt inverter that will just run the fridge. But with my cad laptop, I need something bigger.

Sometimes just a few drops of oil in the fan will work wonders for months.

Oddly not a bad Idea. I had been planning on that anyway, but it slipped my mind.

I DON'T recommend the inverters they sell in Harbor Freight. Every one i've ever bought was a total piece of crap.

If you get a new one you might try to do what I did ten years ago. Bought a 700w in an auto parts store, opened it up and sprayed the hell out of the PC board with Boeshield T9, then the outside too. Still running....

Another great idea. I will get some too.

I ordered the 12V adaptor for the laptop today too. Only $22 including shipping from amazon. Sweet.

Not only did you save some $$$ on the DC converter, you'll save some power too. Win/Win for all involved.
