FWIW cheapest is not necesarily best. Been there done that!! My experience has been that the cheapest were just crap, but better quality was not all that much dearer.

Re: LED Lights

Agreed Uncle Bob, but on a cruisers forum I hope we are all talking the same language i.e. cheapest (that wont break 5 minutes out to sea!) I've found that cruisers tend to have off beat solutions like "I used widgets from bobb's widget mart, these are "cheaper" than the marine version but have lasted me 3 years"

Yeah, I haven't seen that kind of remark about LEDs though. Have you searched the forum? There are a number of threads dealing with LED pricing and LED recommendations.

Re: LED Lights

Gudday DeepFrz, I've been trying to remember where I saw a thread about a guy that got LED from some weird place and has been using them for years. I can't remember the details but he got them dirt cheap from some really odd place and Ive been racking my scotch addled memory trying to recall the details!

Re: LED Lights

Was it Bebi in Fiji? I've used them for a couple of years now. They come with pigtails (wires) so you can use your existing fixtures and don't have to worry about socket compatibility.

Re: LED Lights

Like Bebi for navigation, anchor, etc.

What's your mounting for cabin lights? Been using a dozen of these for two years with no failures. Very bright but more importantly light is warm, wide beam, and even. Are fine from <12v to 14.5v. Designed for MR16 (quartz bulb) sockets but it isn't hard to add leads and adapt other sockets.

Re: LED Lights

For me it is difficult for me to read by the cheap LED's. Different light freq I heard. I like fluorescents. better power draw then regular bulbs but no where near as expensive as the good LEDs
